Sleep Well
Are you having problems with sleeping? Do not worry, but know that many teens are having troubles with sleeping. Please care for yourself: 8-10 hours of sleep are crucial for every teen. If you do not sleep enough, it may influence your concentration on school tasks and driving. It also causes mood swings! It effects your health and you may become ill easier. It may influence your performance in sports too. For some teens it’s also connected to weight gain.
How to have a normal sleeping pattern? Here are some tips:
- Move regularly every day. Have you ever seen young children running around during the day and sleeping deeply at the end? Do you wonder why they sleep so deeply? Exactly, when their body is tired they need to sleep. Any physical activity is helping us in feeling relaxed and pushes our body to take a rest after-wards. Therefore: take care that you exercise about one hour per day! But never do it just before you are going to sleep, because it may wake you up in stead of wanting to sleep!
- Keep yourself away from drugs and alcohol. Some people think that alcohol and drugs make them drowsy, but they are wrong. It is proven that they disturb the sleeping pattern and cause interruptions in the middle of the night!
- Turn off all electronics. During the night you should use the room for sleeping only. The rays of a router will effect your sleep and any sounds of mobile or laptop etc. may disturb you. No interruptions, no sounds of a text or anything that would disturb your sleep, should be in the room.
- Set up a sleep routine. One hour before you go to sleep start doing relaxing activities. You may take a shower, enjoy some music, read a book, or write your daily adventures. If you have a pet, spend some time with him. Any relaxing routine will improve your sleeping pattern!
