Celebrating and Thanking
Celebrating
When you and your child both feel, that a new skill has been successfully acquired, it’s time to celebrate in the way, that you planned and agreed. Celebration reinforces learning and changes the way your child is perceived by others. It’s a social event – a ritual – that raises a child’s status in the eyes of others.
Thanking supporters
Thanking your child’s chosen supporters is an important part of celebration. It’s their opportunity to acknowledge everyone who has made a contribution and helped them to learn the new skill. One very effective way in which children can participate in thanking their supporters is to publicly explain how different individuals helped them learn. As well as reinforcing learning, celebration strengthens your child’s social network.
